Head of WHO Georgia Office Recommends the Authorities Prepare for Three Scenarios

Silviu Domente the Head of the WHO Georgia Office has spoken to reporters about the coronavirus, giving out recommendations to Georgian authorities.

He said there are three likely scenarios that the officials of all countries should be prepared for.

“The first scenario is when the country has imported cases, as it is now in Georgia. The second phase is a local transmission, and the third is widespread transmission. Every country has to prepare for these three scenarios,” noted the Head of the WHO Georgia Office.

He told reporters that the measures that need to be taken are complex.

“In general, response measures and readiness should be complex, we should consider various aspects, ranging from state coordination and communication to hospital readiness, healthcare readiness, and then increase the capacity of laboratories,” said Domente.

On Thursday night, 5 more cases of the coronavirus were reported in Georgia, bringing the country’s total to 9.
