Coordination Council Recommends Suspending Business, Study Trips
The Inter-Agency Coordination Council on COVID-19, headed by Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia, held a meeting today.
The Georgian PM received information at the meeting concerning the health conditions of 15 infected individuals, along with the informative data and latest trends pertaining to the Covid-19 outbreak. It was noted at the session that the health of the infected persons is largely satisfactory; even relatively complicated cases remain under control. Patients receive timely and appropriate medical treatment.
Council members have together recommended that overseas business trips and study tours be suspended to avoid further spread of COVID-19 in the country:
“Public institutions have been strictly recommended to refrain from overseas business trips except for in extreme necessity. This recommendation also applies to study tours, which will be channelled through the system by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia,” reads the statement by the government’s Press Service.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia briefed the Inter-Agency Coordination Council on the process of inbound entry of Georgian citizens from Italy.
“The Embassy of Georgia in Italy operates four hotlines on a 24-hour basis. Citizens of Georgia who purchased their outbound flight tickets from Italy contacted the authorities via the hotline. Registration is practically completed. Diplomatic Mission of Georgia provides transportation of Georgian citizens to Rome, where they will await coordinated return to their country,” reads the statement.
The Inter-Agency Coordination Council strictly calls upon citizens to demonstrate a higher social responsibility in case of infection and adhere to the recommendations issued by the Ministry of Health of Georgia on self-isolation to make sure that no potential threat is caused to their family members and the public in general.
Georgia registered two new cases of Covid-19 earlier today, bringing the country’s total number of infected persons to 15. 141 persons are in quarantine and 51 are being treated.
The Interagency Coordination Council will continue its sessions in a systematic manner to take all the necessary steps. It was reiterated on today’s session that the government is in full control of the processes.
