Deathtoll Rises at the Collapsed Chinese 'Quarantine' Hotel

A minimum of 11 people have died after a hotel crumpled in eastern Fujian province in China, the authorities confirmed Sunday.

It is feared that more than 20 people remain entombed in the rubble only a day after the collapse of the hotel. The building was being used to seclude those alleged as having coronavirus.

A day after the collapse, Quanzhou authorities have stated that more than 48 people of the estimated 70 who had been in the quarantine hotel debris had been rescued. At least 20 more are still feared to be trapped.

Teams of more than 1,000 people, comprising firefighters, police officers and other emergency responders, were deployed to the scene.
