Jan-Feb 2020: Passenger Traffic down by 4% at Georgian Airports

The United Airports of Georgia has published passenger traffic statistics for January-February 2020, which shows that the country's three international airports served 597,506 passengers during the mentioned period, which is a 4% decrease compared to the same period of 2019.

The data shows that while the number of passengers increased at Kutaisi and Batumi international airports, Tbilisi International Airport served relatively fewer passengers this year, the reason of which is the Russian flight ban imposed by President Vladimir Putin in July 2019 and the suspension of direct flights with China and Iran related to preventing the spread of the new coronavirus.

In January-February 2020 Georgian international airports served:

  • Tbilisi International Airport served 399,557 passengers - a 19% decrease y/y
  • Kutaisi International Airport served 156,784 passengers – 51% increase
  • Batumi International Airport served 40,251 passengers – 33% increase
