Spanish Minister Tests Positive for Coronavirus
Spain's Equality Minister Irene Montero has tested positive for COVID-19. Her partner, the country's Deputy Prime Minister Pablo Iglesias, has also been placed under quarantine.
The official announcement concerning the minister’s health was made shortly before the government was to assemble a special cabinet meeting to devise an emergency plan of action against the coronavirus outbreak. Although the meeting will be held nonetheless, it will be attended only by ministers whose presence is essential to approve the new coronavirus measures.
The Palace of Moncloa has announced coronavirus testing for the remaining members of the Spanish government.
Spain has hitherto reported 64 deaths and over 2,800 infections due to the deadly virus. 183 persons have recovered after contracting the virus.
