PM: Today, there's No Need to Declare State of Emergency
"We will have to further tighten measures, however, today I do not see a need to declare a state of emergency," Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said at a briefing today when presenting the government's anti-crisis plan against coronavirus impact on the economy.
"I want to pay attention to one thing - the countries which declared the state of emergency, also explained what this state of emergency means, what measures are being taken. And if you look at what we have already done, you will see that we have not declared the state of emergency, but we have been taking the same measures for several weeks now. That is why we say that we follow specific challenges on a daily basis and we tighten these measures. I can sincerely tell you that we will have to further tighten measures, but today I do not see a need to declare a state of emergency. This need may come tomorrow,” he said.
