First Georgian Coronavirus Patient Recovers

The first Georgian citizen to have been infected with the coronavirus has now recovered. The medical director of Tbilisi Infections Hospital has reported that on Friday the patient was tested again for the coronavirus, and the result came back negative.

“The second testing of the first Georgian patient to have caught the coronavirus was done yesterday. He tested negative. This is very good news, but protocol demands we repeat the testing again at a 24-hour interval, and if he tests negative again, then we can say that the patient has recovered. We certainly hope that this will be the case,” said Ezugbaia.

The first case of coronavirus was confirmed on February 26 in Georgia. A 50-year-old male was diagnosed with the virus when he came back to Georgia from Iran.
