Georgians to be able to Return Home with Georgian Airways or Turkish Air
“Over the next two weeks, i.e. from tomorrow night – 00:00 on March 18, 2020 – citizens of foreign countries will be denied entry to the territory of Georgia at the sovereign borders of the country” announced Irakli Chikovani, Adviser and Press Speaker of the Prime Minister of Georgia after the Inter-Agency Coordination Council Meeting of the Government of Georgia led by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia, today.
Citizens of the country wanting to return home from overseas will be able to fly with Georgian Airways or Turkish Air.
“Prime Minister of Georgia instructed Zurab Abashidze to speak with his counterparts in the Russian Federation and this particular restriction will be enforced from today towards Russia as well. Citizens of Georgia wanting to come home from overseas will be able to fly with Georgian Airways. This possibility will also apply to the family members of our citizens” Chikovani noted, adding that the Council also made a decision to close down the ski resorts of Georgia well before the high season is over. The recommendation is also issued to cafes, restaurants and bars to restrict their direct service rendering to customers.
“A decision has been made by the Inter-Agency Coordination Council to recommend cafes, restaurants and bars restrict their direct service rendering to customers. They will be able to continue operation and accept takeaway orders. Our recommendation is to practice the greatest degree of restricted human interaction at places of public gathering” he said.
The Council also recommends individuals aged over 70 to strictly keep away from any and all places of public gathering and to make the greatest effort of self-isolation.
“In line with recommendations of the healthcare professionals, a decision has been made to recommend individuals aged over 70 to strictly keep away from any and all places of public gathering and to make the greatest effort of self-isolation to avoid any threat to their personal health. I also wish to underline herewith that Prime Minister of Georgia instructed a special mechanism to be established at the Government Administration to monitor the execution of decisions made by the Inter-Agency Coordination Council of the Government of Georgia” Chikovani concluded.
