President Zurabishvili: I Hope We Won't Have to Postpone the Elections
Salome Zurabishvili, the President Of Georgia, addressed the Georgian Parliament today at its plenary session, during which the declaration of state emergency was discussed. During her remarks, the President expressed her hope that postponing the upcoming parliamentary elections would not become necessary.
The President said that the elections could only take place six months following the end of the state of emergency.
“The elections can only take place six months after the state of emergency is announced over. I hope we can complete the state of emergency in time so that we won’t have to move the planned date for the elections, or postpone it minimally,” stated the President.
The 2020 parliamentary elections are supposed to take place in October.
