Movement of All Intercity Transport to be Restricted in Georgia

Movement between cities of Georgia with public transport, including train, will be restricted amid coronavirus fears, Prime Minister's Press Speaker Irakli Chikovani announced at a briefing today.

The decision was made by the Inter-Agency Coordination Council specially created to prevent the spread of the virus in the country.

The PM's press speaker noted that the country has moved to a stage of domestic transmission, which requires maximum suspension of the mentioned processes.

"We should do our utmost to slow the pace of domestic transmission of the virus, which is why we decided to restrict the movement of all types of long-distance transport, including the carriage of passengers by train," he said, adding that the restrictions on intercity transport will come into force on March 24.
