Pregnant Woman from Quarantined Bolnisi District Tests Positive for COVID-19
“A pregnant woman is being transported to Tbilisi hospital from the quarantined Bolnisi municipality as she has tested positive for the new coronavirus”, said the Director of the First University Clinic, Lali Turdzeladze.
Turdzeladze also added that this is the first case in Georgia of a pregnant woman contracting the illness and that the hospital is fully-equipped to provide her with the necessary care.
The government has closed off Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities of Georgia's Kvemo Kartli region after being informed of a local, coronavirus-infected woman who had been in contact with a threatening number of people. The initial source for the COVID-19 infection could not be identified, which further aggravates the situation.
