President Zurabishvili: Everyone Should be Ready for this New Phase

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili visited the checkpoint near Marneuli municipality on Sunday. She received information about the situation in the quarantined municipality, expressing her gratitude for the work of ministries of health, internal affairs, and defense forces, noting that they play a major role in fighting the coronavirus.

"Every citizen in every region of the country is protected equally. Many people have been tested here, which means that every measure is being taken to ensure that people are protected as much as possible.

“We are now entering a new phase, which may be much harder, so everyone should be ready for it. We all need to be more careful about each other, because the state may do everything, but it is enough for one person to violate the rules and this can have a very serious effect.

“By coming here today, first of all, I wanted to thank those who are fighting for us and also to warn everyone - we are now at a new stage of struggle when we all need to be cautious and be aware that we are all responsible for each other's health," said the President.

At the time of writing, Georgia has 91 confirmed coronavirus cases and 18 patients who have already recovered. 4876 people are in quarantine but the number is to go up in the following days as more special flights come in, bringing Georgian citizens home. One of these special flights will land on March 31 from Amsterdam and all the passengers will be taken into mandatory quarantine.
