PM: Healthcare Worker Tests Positive for COVID-19

Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia announced today that one healthcare worker is among those infected with the coronavirus in the country.

"A healthcare worker has been infected. This fact, among other circumstances, urges us  to take more decisive steps," Gakharia said.

Universal quarantine has been declared throughout Georgia and will enter into force starting at 8 am tomorrow. Citizens will not be allowed to move in the streets from 21:00 to 06:00. The same restriction applies to public transport.

No more than three people will be allowed in a taxi or private car. All citizens must carry their IDs with them at all times and may be stopped in the street for temperature-checking and identification.
