Operation of Public Transport to be Suspended throughout Georgia
As part of the general quarantine declared today, the movement of public transport throughout the whole territory of Georgia will be suspended at 08:00 tomorrow morning.
The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili stated at a briefing at the government administration today that the state will ensure the transportation of people who are employed in the medical field or other strategic facilities.
Citizens will be allowed to travel by a private car and/or taxi between 08:00-21:00.
“From 08:00 am to 21:00 pm private cars and taxis are allowed to move in the streets. During this period, the movement of special transport that will serve employees of certain fields is also allowed.
"Only vehicles with special permits will be allowed to operate from 21:00 until 06:00," the Minister explained.
Under the universal quarantine, people will be banned from traveling by any public transport, including the subway.
"Operation of any kind of public transport, including the subway, is completely prohibited within the framework of the quarantine," Gakharia said.
