Public Transport Halted in Georgia
As a part of universal quarantine declared in Georgia yesterday, public transport, including buses and the metro, has been halted from 8:00 am across the country.
The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili stated at a briefing at the government administration yesterday that the state would ensure the transportation of people who are employed in the medical field or other strategic facilities.
Citizens are allowed to travel by private car and/or taxi between 08:00-21:00. Only three people are allowed in a car at any one time, with passengers to sit in the back seats.
"Only vehicles with special permits will be allowed to operate from 21:00 until 06:00," the Minister explained.
Under universal quarantine, people are banned from traveling by any public transport.
"Operation of any kind of public transport, including metro, is completely prohibited within the framework of the quarantine," Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said yesterday.
