Gov't to Fund Bills of those Paying Max. 37 GEL for Electricity, Max. 92 for Gas

Today, the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia announced the government's decision to fully fund the utility bills of those households who consume less than 200 kilowatts of electricity and 200 m3 of natural gas per month in March, April and May, meaning that the state will cover utility bills of those who pay maximum 36-37 GEL for electricity and up to 92 GEL for natural gas.

As for the regions, the subscribers of 'Energo-Pro-Georgia' will benefit from the initiative if the maximum electricity bill per month amounts to 36 GEL, while subscribers of SOCAR-Gas will benefit from it if the natural gas bill is 82-83 GEL per month.

The head of government added that funding also includes cleaning service and water bills.

“This includes both cleaning service and water bills. The government took this decision in order to help our citizens; however, we understand that this assistance will not be enough. Of course, we understand that we have to identify every citizen who has lost their job and after that, we will make special arrangements for their direct assistance,” the PM said.

The state has decided to allocate GEL 2 billion to support the country's economy amid the crisis related to the spread of the new coronavirus.
