Health Official: Small Number of Patients is Related to State's Well-organized Actions

"A small number of patients infected with the new coronavirus in Georgia is related to the state's well-organized actions," Tengiz Tsertsvadze, the director of Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital, stated at a briefing. 

"When I say "state," I mean our epidemiologists and doctors, employees of the Center for Diseases Control, the Ministry of Health, which plays a key role in all these processes, and the Georgian government, personally Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, who took control of this pre-crisis situation," the head of the Infectious Diseases Hospital elaborated. 

In his words, all precautionary measures were carried out in a timely, adequate and effective manner, which no European state has been able to achieve.

"We used the most advanced methods, which were later recognized by the President of the United States and the Food and Drug Administration. In addition, we had innovative approaches to symptomatic and adjuvant therapy. The maximum is done for each patient,” Tsertsvadze said.

He noted that Georgia ranks 50th out of 53 European countries in terms of COVID-19 prevalence and mortality rates, adding that only dwarf states such as Liechtenstein, Monaco and the Vatican have a better situation than Georgia.
