Georgian Scientist in the Group Working on Vaccine against COVID-19
Georgian scientist Giorgi Babuadze is a member of the scientific group in Canada that is working on a vaccine against new coronavirus (COVID-19).
Babuadze, who was interviewed by Georgian First Channel's journalist Mariam Seturidze, explained that the group began working on a vaccine one week after the coronavirus outbreak.
He noted that 45 groups of scientists are working on the production of medicine worldwide and 35 groups on the vaccine.
The process of testing the vaccine on animals has not yet been completed, however, the results of testing are expected by June, the Georgian scientist told the First Channel in an exclusive interview.
“With modern technologies, public support and various organizations are ready to invest funds, we can presume that the clinical phase will end in September or October,” he said.
In addition, Babuadze praised the work of the Lugar Research Center and professionalism of Georgian health workers in curbing the spread of the virus in the country.
