Second Coronavirus Case Reported in Khashuri Municipality
The second case of the new coronavirus has been confirmed in Khidiskuri village, Khashuri municipality, where the first patient, a young woman, tested positive for the virus yesterday.
Reportedly, the new patient has been in contact with the infected woman.
Police officers are controlling the village entrances.
It is not known yet if tightened quarantine will be imposed in Khashuri Municipality.
Yesterday, on April 12, the Georgian government declared tightened quarantine in several administrative units of Kobuleti municipality, in the Adjara region of western Georgia, due to the increasing number of COVID-19 infection cases on the spot.
On March 23, two municipalities of Georgia's Kvemo Kartli region, Marneuli and Bolnisi, were put under quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On April 10, tightened quarantine was also declared in Lentekhi Municipality in Georgia's western region of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
Kobuleti is the fourth municipality in Georgia where tightened quarantine has been imposed so far.
The total number of cases of coronavirus infection in Georgia stands at 266.
There are currently 4872 people quarantined and 453 under examination in hospitals.
To date, Georgia has 67 recoveries from the virus and 3 COVID-19-related deaths.
At the same time, 3 Georgian citizens have been transferred from abroad for coronavirus treatment purposes.
