US Gov't to Send 2,000 Rapid Coronavirus Tests to Georgia

US Ambassador Kelly Degnan said in a video address that as part of the partnership between the US and Georgia in the fight against COVID-19, the US government will send 2000 rapid coronavirus tests to Georgia.

Speaking from home, Ambassador described the ways in which the United States has supported Georgia in its ongoing response to the COVID-19 crisis.

"The United States will send 2000 rapid tests to Georgia, which can detect the virus in a matter of hours," she noted.

She spoke about the more than $140 million the American people had given Georgia to help build a "capable, resilient, professional national healthcare system."

She also highlighted the recent announcement of an additional $1.1 million in new emergency health assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

This assistance is carefully designed to complement the important work being done by the Georgian government and citizens, healthcare professionals and other donors.
