Church in Tskneti Expected to be Closed as Parishioner Tests Positive for COVID-19

An employee of the Clinic of Georgian Patriarchate, who is a parishioner of one of the churches in Tskneti, a part of Georgia's capital Tbilisi, has tested positive for the new coronavirus (COVID-19). 

The Head of the Patriarchate’s Public Relations Service, Andria Jagmaidze, has confirmed the above information, saying that the church is expected to be closed. 

"The church is expected to be closed; however, I don't have exact information yet. The infected is an employee of the Clinic of Georgian Patriarchate. As I know, this person is not a doctor," he said. 

Reportedly, the woman infected with the new coronavirus attended a service in the church in relation to the Feast of the Annunciation on April 7. The clergymen of the temple are in quarantine.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases stands at 370 in Georgia. 

77 out of 370 people have recovered from the illness, while 3 patients have died. 

There are currently 5079 people quarantined and 558 under examination in hospitals.
