Filmmaker Rezo Esadze Dies at 86

Georgia’s cherished filmmaker, actor, painter and poet Rezo Esadze has died at the age of 86.

Esadze has received numerous local and international awards for his artistic merit. He has left us with 11 very distinctive films, including Sekundomer (1971) and The Nylon Christmas Tree (1985).

As an actor, Esadze played leading and episodic roles in various films, 122 in total. 

His fascination with painting has produced a myriad of artistic works that are preserved in personal and museum collections. His personal exhibitions have been held in Tbilisi, Munich, Geneva and Tel Aviv. 

In 2001, Esadze published his first collection of poems.
