Finance Minister Discusses the Plan for Social Assistance

At today’s presentation, the Minister of Finance Ivane Machavariani discussed the details of the plan on social assistance.

“All hired employees who lost their jobs, their income, during the crisis after the declaration of the state of emergency, will receive GEL 1,200 as financial assistance over six months, meaning they will receive GEL 200 per month," he said.

The Minister added that every employer, company, or legal entity that retains a workplace (up to 1500 GEL) will be exempted from the 750 GEL income tax for a natural person, and this will be done for the next six months.

At the same time, he said, it is very important that social assistance also applies to the self-employed, and noted social assistance services will be involved in the process of identification of such people.

The plan includes assistance for socially vulnerable groups.

"These are the groups and families that are the most socially vulnerable. These include families with a social rating of 65,000 to 100,000 points (they will receive 600 GEL assistance in the next six months) and families with a score of 100,000 who have three or more children aged 0 to 16. They will receive 600 GEL. In addition, people with severe disabilities and persons with disabilities under the age of 18 (approximately 40,000 citizens) are also beneficiaries of 600 GEL,” the Minister said.
