Amiran Gamkrelidze: 12.7% of Infected Persons in Georgia are Medical Staff

Head of the Center for Disease Control and Public Health, Amiran Gamkrelidze, today said that 12.7% of persons infected with COVID-19 in the country are medical staff, which is an average European figure.

Gamkrelidze has called on the medical staff to show more caution and follow recommendations.

"We are on the front line. We all need to follow the recommendations; my colleagues, including me; have to follow the rules meticulously. Most importantly, we need to use protective equipment at all times. However, there is never a 100% guarantee in medicine. In any fight, be it an armed war or a fight against coronavirus, unfortunately, we, the medical staff, are the most vulnerable”, he said.
