NCDC’s Khatuna Zakhashvili: 82% of Reported COVID-19 Cases are Mild or Moderate


Khatuna Zakhashvili, Head of Communicable Disease Department of the National Center for Disease Control, has reported on the Georgian data of the coronavirus patients’ health conditions. Zakhashvili said that out of the confirmed cases in the country, only 18% have been assessed as severe or critical.

"Our country's data shows that 82% of patients have mild or moderate syndromes, 18% of all reported cases are assessed as severe or critical - 1.5% of this was lethal," Zakhashvili said.

She also talked about the health condition of the Georgian coronavirus patient who has been reported to be treating at home.

“Fortunately, the patient [who was treating COVID-19 at home] has now recovered. We don’t have any other patient treating at home. Our public health system is well-prepared to deal with the amount of patients we have now,” said Zakhashvili during her Facebook LIVE.

To date, Georgia has registered 604 coronavirus cases. 240 patients have recovered and 9 have died battling the virus.
