Andreas Schleicher Names Georgia, Finland as Leaders in Successful Distance Learning
Andreas Schleicher, Head of OECD Education Directorate, named Georgia and Finland leaders in terms of the successful introduction of distance learning. Ministry of Education of Georgia disseminates the information.
“The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli took part in the first summit of virtual education transformation organized by Microsoft Corporation, addressed the public and introduced them the challenges facing the Georgian education system and ways to solve them against the background of COVID-19 pandemic.”
The summit was attended by representatives of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the International Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) and more than 300 leaders in the education sector.
After Chkhenkeli's speech, the moderator of the summit, the head of education directorate International Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD) - Andreas Schleicher, once again spoke about the successful example of Georgia and named Georgia and Finland as leading countries in terms of adapting the education system and successfully implementing distance learning in the context of the COVID-19 crisis.
The International Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) in its 2020 report, published by the COVID-19 pandemic to address the challenges posed by education, evaluated the steps taken by the Georgian government to ensure continuous education among 98 countries as one of the best examples. Speaking at a summit organized by Microsoft, Mikhail Chkhenkel thanked Andreas Schleicher, head of the OECD's Directorate of Education for International Development and Cooperation.
