Coronavirus Death Toll Rises to 12 in Georgia

A 12th patient has died of coronavirus in Georgia, stopcov.ge reports.

The deceased, an 81-year-old woman, was being treated at the First University Clinic of Tbilisi. 

The doctor of the Clinic, Lali Turdzeladze, said that the deceased recovered from the coronavirus on April 29, however, the virus caused an aggravation to other concomitant diseases, which led to her death.

Reportedly, the patient died yesterday evening, May 13. Health officials explained that although she had not been diagnosed with coronavirus at the time of her death, as aggravation of other concomitant diseases was caused by COVID-19, the virus is still considered the reason for the patient's death. 

The total number of coronavirus cases is 652 in Georgia. 383 of them have already recovered, while 12 have died.

Currently, there are 257 active cases in the country.
