Q1 2020: Number of Arrivals of Int'l Travelers to Georgia Down by 17.6%
In the first quarter of 2020, the number of arrivals of international non-resident travelers in the territory of Georgia equaled 1.3 million, which is 17.6% lower compared to the previous year, the latest report by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) shows.
Most of the incomes, 47.8%, were made by travelers of the 31-50 age group (319,800 people) while the smallest category was the elderly (13,300 people).
The number of visits by international visitors made up 1.1million, which is 16.0% lower compared to 2019.
Based on the same data, the number of international visitors amounted to 883.8 thousand, 15.2% lower compared to the previous year.
International visitors have made 765.3 thousand tourist-type visits, which is 13.2% lower compared to the previous year.
In the first quarter of 2020, the largest number of visitors (197.2 thousand visitors) was from Azerbaijan, which amounts to 22.3% of the total number of visitors and is a 7.3% decrease compared to the first quarter of 2019. The largest number of visits (262.2 thousand) comes on the citizens of Azerbaijan, which is 10.5% lower compared to the first quarter of 2019.
The purpose of the majority of visits (31.9%) was a holiday, leisure and recreation.
