Reconstruction of Mziuri Park Nears Completion
Reconstruction of Tbilisi’s Mziuri Park is nearly complete, says the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.
An artificial lake, cycle trails, benches, bins, drinking water fountains, children's playgrounds and recreation areas have been set up on the territory of Mziuri Park.
"Following completion of the project, another well-equipped multifunctional recreation zone will be added to the capital. The upgraded infrastructure will be adapted for people with disabilities, as well as for children,” said the Ministry.
Mziuri Park was ravaged by a flood in 2015. 19 persons died at the time, and huge parts of the park suffered substantial damage.
The budget of the project is GEL 7.8 million ($2.4 million); it also includes the renovation of the park near the Chabua Amirejibi highway which was damaged by the same flood.
The project is sponsored by the European Investment Bank (EIB).
