Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan: Georgia's Top Trading Partners in Jan-April 2020
In January-April 2020, the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $3,463.5 million, 11.8% lower than the same period of 2019. The exports equaled $1,001.3 million (11.9% lower), while imports stood at $2,462.2 million (11.8% lower). The negative trade balance was $1,460.8 million in January-April 2020 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 42.2%, says the latest report by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
In January-April, the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 78.1%.
The top partners were Azerbaijan ($145.2 million), China ($135.5 million) and Russia ($125.6 million).
In January-April, copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling $215.7 million or 21.5% of total exports.
Exports of motor cars totaled $134.8 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 13.5%.
Ferroalloys exports occupied third place standing at $91.8 million and constituting 9.2% of the total exports.
