Ministry of Health Purchases 30,000 Rapid COVID-19 Tests

The Ministry of Health of Georgia imported 30,000 rapid COVID-19 tests within the World Bank Group’s Emergency COVID-19 Response Project.

The coronavirus antibody tests are being supplied by a Chinese company to various parts of the world with the aim of speeding up detection of COVID-19 cases.

A spokesman for the company said: “These rapid tests have been licensed by the Chinese government. Our products have undergone diverse inspections and have been licensed for export. The tests are highly accurate. They have been introduced in the United States as well as in other European countries”.

The Chinese-made coronavirus tests will be distributed to Georgia's medical institutions.

As of May 20, there are 713 registered cases of the coronavirus infection in Georgia, with 475 recoveries and 12 deaths.
