Acclaimed Tennis Player Basilashvili Released on Bail

The Tbilisi City Court has set GEL 100,000 bail for the renowned Georgian tennis player Nikoloz Basilashvili, who has been charged for physically abusing his ex-wife.

He has been released on bail.

The sportsman's lawyer Irma Tchkadua claims that the defendant denies the charges and no domestic violence was committed by him.

The investigation established that Basilashvili physically abused his ex-wife N.D. after having an argument with her on May 21 in Georgia's capital of Tbilisi. 

He was arrested on May 22.

The pre-trial hearing of the case was held today in the Tbilisi City Court behind the closed door.
