Ivanishvili Says IMF Asked Him Not to Detain Giorgi Kadagidze

The Former Prime Minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili has stated that the representatives of IMF asked him not to arrest the President of the National Bank of Georgia, Giorgi Kadagidze. “The issue of Cartu Bank was my own private matter. Even IMF representatives were aware that he [Giorgi Kadagidze] had violated the law but mentioned nothing about not deserving to be detained. They said they knew he deserved it, but asked me to forgive him. I told them I could solve private matters and suspended the complaint sent to the Prosecutor’s Office,” said Ivanishvili.

IMF representatives have refused to comment on the matter.
