PM Urges Citizens to Wear Face Masks, Follow Safety Rules
"We call on everyone to wear masks, in order to take care of each other and to maintain the potential of our economy's recovery," Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia said at today's briefing after the Interagency Coordination Council meeting.
The PM emphasized that the main task now is to effectively control the spread of the virus.
He noted that the government knows well that social assistance to those who lost their incomes is not enough, so the state is doing its best to open up the economy.
"It is our commitment to each other. The plans the government has with regard to the opening of the economy and tourism will be carried out extremely carefully. Otherwise, we will endanger the health of our citizens.
"We call on everyone to wear masks, first of all, in order to take care of each other and to maintain the potential of recovering our economy, which Georgia really has," said the Prime Minister.
"Trust me, we will come out of this situation even stronger, and Georgia, a small country, will be able to prove to everyone that it can effectively manage the crisis.
"Adapting to the crisis has strengthened the healthcare system, and we must be one of the first countries to open tourism, so we have to follow the rules," he added.
