Demonstration 'Against American Police Brutality' to be Held in Tbilisi
Today, on June 4, a demonstration entitled 'Against American Police Brutality' will be held in Tbilisi.
The event, scheduled at 17:30 in front of the Metro Rustaveli and hosted by the International History of the Left, aims to express local citizens' solidarity with the uprising in the US, sparked by the death of African-American George Floyd in police custody.
"On May 25th in the American city of Minneapolis, the brutal murder of an unarmed African American man by the police was caught on video. His name was George Floyd. Since then, Americans have been in rebellion against not only police violence, but the daily realities of systemic racism. Riots and protests have erupted in cities across the United States, from Minneapolis to Philadelphia, Los Angeles to New York, Boston to Houston and everywhere in between.
"Let’s come together in solidarity with those fighting against police violence and racism on the streets in the United States.
"Police brutality and the oppression of minorities happens around the world – their fight is a global fight.
"SOLIDARITY WITH THE ANTI POLICE UPRISING IN THE UNITED STATES!
"AGAINST POLICE VIOLENCE AND THE OPPRESSION OF MINORITIES EVERYWHERE!" claim the organizers of the peaceful demonstration.
