Micro Grants, Small Enterprise Support Program has been Augmented to 40 mln Gel
Micro Grants and Small Enterprise Support Programs, which were performing most effectively in recent years, now have an augmented budget totaling to 40 MLN GEL. In addition, the minimum threshold for grants has been increased from 20 000 to 30 000 GEL. It was announced by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia at the Executive Government Meeting.
The head of the government noted that this is direct support for citizens who are ready to start a new business, assume the certain risk and employ others if their business turns out to be successful.
“Adjustments will be made to Produce in Georgia, which are being approved today. They have various multiple directions. I will single out only one, which is equally important – Micro Grants and Small Enterprise Support Programs – which were performing most effectively in recent years. Budget of this program has been increased to 40 MLN GEL. Besides, minimum threshold for grant financing has been increased from 20 000 to 30 000 GEL. It is also a direct support to our citizens who are ready to start a business even in current uncertainties, get engaged in new projects, assume a certain risk and employ others if their endeavor turns out to be successful. It is most important and everyone should understand that this initiative has not only social dimension, but a significant economic value” noted the Prime Minister.
In the opinion of the Head of Government of Georgia, citizens will be able to obtain information on the referred programs and gain an actual benefit of them as early as in a month. Access to information will be provided via Community Centers and Houses of Justice.
“In addition, I wish to tell you that Produce in Georgia and Agriculture programs will reach out to each citizen of our country directly through Community Centers and Houses of Justice in the upcoming one month. It means that every program implemented by the State in support of domestic production and small enterprises, will be promoted through 100 local community spaces of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. Instead of having our citizens, farmers and entrepreneurs commuting to Tbilisi to inquire at the Ministries of Economy and Agriculture about the details of these programs, they will be proactively promoted locally, which is of great significance. I am confident that our citizens will be effectively benefiting from these initiatives” he concluded.
