Next Stage of Easing COVID-19 Restrictions Launched in Georgia
Starting today, June 8, the next stage of easing COVID-19 restrictions has been launched in Georgia, which aims to gradually recover the country's economy.
Restaurants, intercity transport (except trains) and currency exchange booths resumed operations across the country.
All types of restaurants which have received permission from the Georgian Health Ministry are allowed to offer every type of service.
In addition, hotels that passed the Healthcare Ministry check will be allowed to reopen.
Restaurants will be working in accordance with recommendations developed by health officials.
The general recommendation includes the usage of booking services, and favoring cash-free payments. A 2-hour shift for cleaning would be introduced.
Inside indoor restaurants, tables must stand two meters from one another. A maximum of 6 people can sit at the same table. The exceptions would be family members and children under-12.
In addition, a 1-meter distance will be a must between individuals sitting at the same table.
Transportation between cities has been restored. However, this does not apply to railway transportation for passengers.
Railway transportation for passengers is expected to be restored from June 15.
"It is important for passengers to be aware in advance that they must maintain a social distance, even if there are no symptoms characteristic of the virus. Passengers will not be allowed to travel without face masks and to remove them during the trip,” said Nika Kacharava, head of the Georgian Railway Medical Service.
The currency exchange booths resumed their work today. The National Bank calls for them to carefully follow recommendations.
"Through joint actions, we'll quickly defeat the virus and get back to the usual business", the NBG said in a statement.
