GNTA Head: Negotiations on Resumption of Tourist Flows with Israel Continue
"Despite the epidemiological situation in Israel, negotiations with the Israeli government continue," said Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Head of the National Tourism Administration of Georgia.
She noted that the epidemiological situation in Israel has deteriorated, due to which the state had to postpone the term for international tourist arrivals by two weeks.
The GNTA Head emphasized that Israel is a distinguished strategic partner of Georgia and expressed hope that it will be one of the first countries with which tourist flows will resume.
"The Georgian government is actively negotiating with various countries to create safe tourist corridors. We are working very actively with Israel. Of course, the main indicator when selecting these countries is the epidemiological situation, which can be changeable in both a positive or negative way.
"Like all other countries, Georgia has a high sense of responsibility and we are monitoring the current situation. The situation in Israel has actually changed in the last few days.
"The state has decided to postpone the date and period for international tourist arrivals by two weeks. This does not change our approach to them. For us, Israel is an especially important strategic partner. We hope the epidemiological situation in the country will stabilize.
"Given that the postponed two-week term set by the Israeli government is clear, we think it's enough to stabilize the situation.
"We will continue to work with the Israeli government and we hope that Israel will be the first country with which tourist flows will resume,” Mariam Kvrivishvili said.
