NCDC Head: 5 New Coronavirus Cases Reported in Georgia, with Source Unknown
"5 New cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Georgia, with the initial source of infection not known at this stage," Amiran Gamkrelidze, Director General of the Georgian National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, announced today.
He said that the source of the infection is unknown in all five cases. Currently, the contacts of newly infected patients are being investigated.
"We had 4 new cases in the morning. There was a certain increase in the number of cases during the day. I will tell you directly, five cases. Therefore, given that we are conducting a deep epidemiological study, we are a bit concerned due to the fact that the initial source of infection in these five cases couldn't be established," he emphasized, urging citizens to be careful and adhere to relevant recommendations.
"We haven't defeated the pandemic yet. Be careful, adhere to hygiene norms and wear face masks in public transport and enclosed areas," he warned.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases stands at 827 in the country. 690 people have recovered from the illness so far, while 13 patients have died.
Currently, there are 124 active cases in Georgia.
