Emergency Management Service: Fire in Abastumani Forest Localized

A fire that broke out last night in the woodland in Abastumani, a small town in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia, has now been localized by firefighters and rescuers, the Emergency Management Service reports. 

"In a short time, additional live forces were mobilized on the spot, both from the Samtskhe-Javakheti region and Kvemo Kartli. 65 firefighters are working on the spot at the moment," said the Agency. 

Two helicopters of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were also involved in the firefighting operation

Firefighting operations were actively carried out during the night. 

At the moment, the situation is under control and there is no danger of fire spreading. Fire liquidation works are underway.
