Detainees Sentenced to 19 Years in Prison for Child Pornography
The Tbilisi City Court has sentenced 3 defendants in a child pornography case to imprisonment.
Among those charged are the victim's mother and grandmother, who were sentenced to 19 years in prison each.
The third defendant is an Australian citizen who was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia reports that all three defendants were found guilty in all episodes of the charges, in particular, organized trafficking of five minors and production and sale of pornographic works containing their images, in accordance with Articles 143 Prima and 255 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
The trial of 11 other citizens allegedly involved in the mentioned case continues.
"The Tbilisi City Court continues to hear lawsuits against 11 Georgian citizens, who are also accused of trafficking of minors. In particular, 10 parents are accused of involvement in the creation of pornographic content containing images of minors, for which they received payment, and a school teacher is accused of assisting in trafficking," said the Prosecutor's Office.
