Coronavirus: Georgia Reports 9 New Cases, 7 Recoveries
As of June 17, 9 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Georgia, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 888, a government-run special website stopcov.ge reports.
2 out of 9 new cases of coronavirus infection are contacts with the earlier cases, 6 are from the quarantine space and the source of the infection of one patient is unknown.
7 more people have recovered from the illness during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 731.
2710 people are under a 14-day mandatory quarantine while 267 are under observation in hospitals.
14 people have died of the virus in the country.
Currently, there are 143 active cases in Georgia.
Yesterday, 3 patients at the Tbilisi Sea Hospital tested positive for the new coronavirus.
Out of three confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded at Tbilisi Sea Hospital, two patients are citizens of Azerbaijan, one – Georgia. The health condition of the three patients is of moderate gravity.
Marekh Bekaia, Head of Critical Medicine Department of Tbilisi Sea Hospital, stated that two Azerbaijani men under 60 tested positive for the coronavirus at the border through PCR testing. The Georgian 20-year-old man will continue treatment at Mtskheta Medical Center.
