SSSG Calls on Public No to Discuss Vasambek Bokov’s Case

The State Security Service of Georgia has issued a statement regarding the arrest of Vasambek Bokov.

The agency representatives note that in some cases, irresponsible statements are made during the discussion of the topic in the media, which, as they note, are not based on factual circumstances and, what is most disturbing, harm the interests of the investigation.

The State Security Service calls on everyone to refrain from publicly discussing the circumstances of the criminal case so as not to hamper the intensive investigation process.

"On June 15, the State Security Service made a statement regarding the case of Vasambek Bokov, a citizen of the Russian Federation. In that statement, we explicitly said that the case was being investigated intensively and that any dissemination of any information - whether true or false - could harm the major public interest to establish the objective truth in the case, expose all those persons involved in the crime and bring them to justice.

"Despite the above, in some cases, irresponsible statements are made during the discussion of the topic in the media, which, according to them, are not based on factual circumstances and, what is most disturbing, harm the interests of the investigation.

"It should be noted that various investigative actions are being carried out in a continuous manner, the evidence is being gathered and evaluated, and every further step is being planned based on a scrupulous analysis in this difficult criminal case so that no version or factual circumstances remains beyond the proper attention of the investigation.

"Even a seemingly insignificant detail can be crucial in this process, which is why we once again call on everyone to refrain from publicly discussing the circumstances of the criminal case so as not to hamper the intensive investigation process.

"At the same time, we would like to state unequivocally that we are ready to receive any information related to the criminal case from any person in accordance with the rules and procedures established by law and we call on the public to cooperate with the investigation," reads the statement.
