The European School - Road to Excellence
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have them because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. (Aristotle)
The European School is a school with long traditions and a reputation second to none for academic excellence. Everyone has a talent. Whatever creative or academic outlet makes a child tick, the European School finds and nurtures it. Endeavour and fun are the most important elements of intellectual life there, and success follows this explosion of discovery and purposefulness.
Their commitment to excellence has driven their successful growth from a local private school established in 2007 to the first international school in Georgia accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS). Their supportive approach enables everyone to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding required to be responsible, considerate and well-rounded individuals suited to the demands of our ever-changing multicultural society. Their aims are simple: they want to achieve excellence so that each and every student reaches their full potential. They believe that their philosophy of education instills a love of learning.
Quality teachers are the backbone of the European School. Excellence in teaching is evident in the qualifications of the staff, as well as the professional learning opportunities offered by the school to its teachers.
From the new academic year, several experienced and expert leaders and educators will join their team. They all demonstrate important pedagogical attributes, qualifications, and practices of excellent teaching. Their new colleagues have been successfully delivering IB programs and taking several leadership roles in various IB world schools. Here, we introduce them:
Soha Saad (Egypt) - PYP coordinator and devoted teaching professional with a gift for reaching each and every student and instilling in them a love of learning.
Andrea M. Schuitema (USA) - MYP Language and Literature teacher and a dynamic international educator dedicated to supporting academic and personal growth.
Viktorija Rudež (U.K.) - MYP English teacher experienced in teaching a variety of ages and courses, from EAL support to Acquisition and Literature classes in the IBMYP framework.
Joelene Kerr (U.K.) - PYP teacher for whom teaching has always been a passion, as she loves to motivate and see others excel.
Kaitlin M. Swala (USA) - PYP teacher who strives to create a space for children to engage in the world around them through play, where they are free to fail often and fail proudly to learn and be lifelong learners.
The European School is an institution where educators are aware of the new demands for learning and new expectations of citizenship. They strive to lay the foundations for bright futures while at the same time successfully dealing with the new challenges of the world. Partnership with Microsoft Company and consistent experience of the staff gained through attending Microsoft trainings in the previous years has played a major role in building an excellent distance learning program in the current unprecedented reality and their becoming a leader in online learning as well.
The European School always sees education in the context of a fast-moving world. Curriculum innovation, applying new content and using new methods and new resources is their normal routine. The school uses experiences and expertise from across the world in these processes. Educators from many different cultures play a critical role in the development of their programs. The international faculty are a growing and increasingly important part of the European School staff, bringing diversity, new perspectives, and skills to inspire change and innovation in teaching and learning.
They believe the infusion of talent and diversity will increase the reputation of the school and contribute to achieving their goals on the road to excellence.
Their students mean the world to them, and they say they are proud of them and of the results they achieve. Their teachers and administrators are committed to helping every one of them attain their full potential, and that objective drives everything they do.
Parents are given the flexibility to select the type of education they desire for their children- National or International- by engaging in the following academic programs: International Baccalaureate (IB) Programs (PYP, MYP, and DP, for grades 1-12), American High School (grades 8-12), Georgian Program (grades 1-12) and Preschool (years 3 -5).
The European School continues to accept new students for the academic year 2020-2021. Follow the link to register online: www.es.openapply.com/
