Greece Opens Borders to Georgia, 13 other Countries

Greece has opened its borders to Georgia and 13 other non-EU countries, schengenvisainfo.com reports.

"For almost ten days now, the residents of 14 third-countries have been eligible to enter Greece, despite the EU-wide travel ban on third-country citizens, also applying in the Hellenic Republic.

"Upon a recommendation from the European Union Council on June 30 to all the Member States to reopen borders for the residents of 14 world countries considered as epidemiologically safe, as well as to China if the latter reopened its borders for the residents of EU, Greece has moved to apply the recommendation," reads the publication

“Greece is ready once again to welcome the world. Here is how – July 1 onwards [the following are eligible to enter]:

"Residents from EU+ countries are allowed to travel to Greece. EU+ consists of the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Lichtenstein and Iceland.

"Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay, China* [if it applies reciprocity],” reads a press release of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Hellenic Republic.

From July 9 and onwards, all travelers who enter the territory of Greece will need to complete a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least 24 hours before entering the country, providing detailed information on their:

  • point of departure
  • duration of previous stays in other countries,
  • address of stay while in Greece (at least of the first 24h)

The form can be found at the Visit Greece app and at travel.gov.gr. All travelers will receive a confirmation email upon submission of the PLF.

All travelers who enter Greece, either from air, land or sea, will be subject to random tests upon arrival. Upon being tested, travelers will be permitted to move to their final destination. If they result positive, they will be isolated for 14 days.

The Greek authorities will cover expenses related to the hospitalization of all visitors suffering from Covid-19 symptoms.
