Georgian Government Prohibits Registration of Right-hand Drive Vehicles

The Ministry of Internal Affairs will hold a presentation on new rules concerning the potential prohibition of right-hand drive vehicles.

The Interior Minister Giorgi Mgebrishvili said they may impose an extra fee on the right-hand drive. He added that currently only registration of such vehicles will be prohibited, however, neither imports nor transit will be banned.

"In case of importing right-hand drive vehicles owners can sell it as spare parts," Mgebrishvili said and added that the imports of right-hand drive vehicles reduced by 50% in 2015.
