Infant Tests Positive for Coronavirus in Kakheti
A 10-month-old infant has tested positive for the new coronavirus in the village of Karajala, Telavi Municipality, Kakheti region of Georgia, the head of the Kakheti branch of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health Neli Khizanishvili announced.
She said that the infant is currently being treated in Tbilisi.
Epidemiologists are working in the village. Biological samples from 11 people have already been sent to the Lugar Laboratory. The answers will be known tomorrow morning.
Contacts are being investigated. As for the source of infection, it has not been determined yet.
The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country stands at 1003, out of which 873 people have recovered and 15 have died.
Currently, there are 115 active cases in Georgia.
