Ruling Party Leader: Crisis Showed that People Have Caring, Effective Gov't
"It has become clearer during the crisis that our people have a caring and effective government, for which human being and its life are most valuable," said Bidzina Ivanishvili, chairman of the ruling party Georgian Dream, while presenting the list of majoritarian candidates.
He added that the nature of Georgians is to strive for progress and development.
"We are always committed to the European and Euro-Atlantic course, which was conditioned by the unshakable will of the Georgian people and which is the foundation of our state. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported Georgia and the Georgian people in this work for years - our Western friends, the European Union, our strategic partner, the United States. It is no surprise to anyone that we live in a rather difficult time, in a difficult region and in a politically difficult neighborhood. Therefore, we are obliged to reduce the risks as much as possible, to avoid all possible provocations that could harm the stability and peaceful development of the country. We should turn our Abkhazian and Ossetian brothers towards us in a peaceful manner, by creating trust and restoring reconciliation and respect.
"People saw during the crisis how the ruling team was taking care of them, how professionally and loyally they served the country. In extreme circumstances, when people's lives and health were under a real danger, people felt a caring hand of the government and united around it. What was natural for our group, for the ruling party during these years, just became more obvious today - the crisis showed it better that people have caring and effective government for which human being and its life is the most valuable. Georgian Dream was like this and will remain like this forever," said Ivanishvili.
