Coronavirus: Georgia Reports 19 New Cases, 1 Recovery
19 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Georgia during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 1104, a government-run special website stopcov.ge reports.
Marina Ezugbaia, the Medical Director of the Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital, said that out of 19 newly detected cases, 8 have been reported at the Lilo Market in the outskirts of Tbilisi, 5 - in the village of Gachiani, a district in Kvemo Kartli region in southeast Georgia, 2 cases are imported, 1 infected patient is medical personnel, while a source of infection is unknown in 3 cases.
The Georgian National Center for Disease Control has begun mass testing of people at the Lilo market.
The decision on the need for screening was taken based on recent cases of coronavirus of Gardabani inhabitants, the majority of whom are employed at the market.
As for the recoveries, their number has increased by 1, reaching 912.
5936 people are under a 14-day mandatory quarantine and 268 are under observation in hospitals.
16 people have died of the virus in the country.
41 citizens of Georgia have been transported to the country from abroad for treatment.
Currently, there are 176 active cases in Georgia.
