Coronavirus: Georgia Reports 14 New Cases, 44 Recoveries

14 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Georgia during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 1264.

Marina Ezugbaia, the Medical Director of the Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital, stated that out of 14 newly detected cases, 2 are from Gachiani, a district in Kvemo Kartli in southeast Georgia, 9 are contacts of infected patients, and 3 cases are truck drivers. 

As for the recoveries, their number has increased by 44, reaching 1054.

Reportedly, the majority of the newly recovered patients are Georgian soldiers who were infected while serving in the NATO Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan and were transferred to the homeland for treatment.

6930 people are under a 14-day mandatory quarantine and 279 - under examination in hospitals.

17 people have died of the virus in the country.

41 citizens of Georgia have been transported to the country from abroad for treatment.

Currently, there are 193 active cases in Georgia.
